The North Lakes Aquatic Centre is a 'Keep Watch' facility. This means that there are rules that must be followed while visiting the centre:
Children under 5 – Must be constantly supervised and remain within arm's reach. If the child is in the water, the parent/guardian must be in the water too.
Children 10 and under – Must be accompanied into the facility and constantly supervised by a parent/guardian 18 or over. The parent/guardian must have a clear view of the child at all times. This means NOT using your phone.
The supervision of children in aquatic facilities is not the sole responsibility of lifeguards.
Lifeguards are employed on a 1:100 ratio; this is based on the expectation that parent will provide direct supervision of children.
Parents are required to provide constant and direct supervision for young children.
